<h1>Alternative Methods of Processing:</h1>
<p id="info">
Rather than being held in closed detention facilities for an undefined length of time asylum seekers could be held in community detention. Many of the legal restrictions surrounding asylum seekers still apply, with them having to check in with the authorities on a regular basis and being required to sleep at a designated residence every night. They are not permitted to enter the workforce and are supplied with food and funds just like they would be in a detention centre.
<br/><br/>
Benefits of this sort of detention include decreased numbers of mental health issues, decreased accounts of violence against refugees and more educational and social opportunities for young children.
<br/><br/>
Currently, this form of on-shore processing is only available as an option for children who arrive to Australia as Asylum Seekers. If this program was opened up to allow all verified Asylum Seekers who come to Australia
