Something that could give your launcher a speed boost is a toggle to enable the ability to launch an app if it is the only thing appearing in the search.

Most apps can be narrowed down to typing the first three letters or so. If the app auto launches it potentially saves a press.

This is a feature in Fast App Search Tool on F-Droid if you are curious about implemention.

You can already do this!

When searching, if you are at the bottom of the search result, the keyboard's 'enter'/'search' key launches the last app. Conversely, if you scroll up, it will launch the first app instead.

I do plan on improving this behaviour. Perhaps by highlighting it or by giving it better clarity.

That is nice. I didn't realize it would launch like that.

The minor difference in what I suggested would be that the app launches on the last keystroke before you even think about hitting enter.

So if you have two apps:
"F4uzaniscool" and "F5uzanisnotcool" -- Basically as soon as you hit 4 or 5 the corresponding app opens.

It is certainly doable, yes. Though I'd probably have it as a toggle of sorts — as its behaviour may confuse others or even conflict with the web search.

Regarding the conflict, picture this:
I want to search for 'YouTube' online, by the fourth stroke (YouT), it instead opens the YouTube app.

That's where we get to my next feature request: ability to rename apps. Ha ha. ;)

It does pose a problem unless you renamed YouTube app to "YT" or something.

But, yeah, a toggle and a way to differentiate from a web search would probably be required. And probably the easiest way would be to rename any apps that might trigger an accidental search.

Anyway, just a thought. I think your launcher will get frequent comparisons to KISS, and I guess I think it wouldn't hurt to pull a few more differentiating features into Hg.

Regardless, this launcher is awesome. As always, best wishes to you.

Apps renaming is in the works currently. I've had it planned for a time, but never got to actually implementing it.

I suppose you can rename/edit the issue to reflect the other enhancement request as well? That'll save up space and we'll be able to track things better here.

Regarding the comparisons: I do see where it'll be coming from. Though I don't mind them, but I still agree it'll be great to make decisions KISS don't — we'll see about that.

Hope it was okay that I created a separate issue regarding the renaming of apps, which is what I assumed you wanted me to edit into the title even though you said it was planned.

I couldn't figure out how to edit the title on mobile but then realized too late that I can do it on desktop mode.

Let me know if you want me to clean up any of my issues or posts. I'm not usually this verbose when submitting issues.

Thanks again for all you do.

It's all okay! Having separate issue is fine as well. That'd help me keep track of things better. We can keep them as is.
