LaTeX failed to compile filename.tex.

I can't knit to pdf via RStudio.
got this error : LaTeX failed to compile filename.tex
wondered if someone could shed some light. I also posted here:

I debugged my code piece by piece and have resolved.
The error code from LaTeX was a bit misleading.
