Busy flashing hotspots from Syncro to Nebra. We are experiencing several issues. For the devices for which we flashed and renewed firmware we cannot connect to them via bluetooth. We can find the hotspot via the Nebra app, but if we want to connect we get multiple error codes. We have tried several phones, several flashed hotspots (3 different one), with and without ethernet cable. In all cases we see the hotspot in the found list, but we cannot connect to them because we get several different error codes (see the images here).

The set up > hotspot connected to internet via ethernet cable and powered by original Syncro power cable. We have downloaded Nebra app to get hotspots online. In the app the hotspots get visible, but connecting does not work. We have tried:

  • iOS phone/Android phone/check all updates
  • Use different internet cable directly from modem or access point
  • We used the latest firmware 24-02-2023 from Github
  • Flashing gave no problems.
  • Tried to connect through other apps (MNTD, Hotspotty etc) but that did not work out for several reasons

I've had this issue before, you need to use a phone with an older version of Bluetooth e.g. Bluetooth 5 or older. I have a Pixel 6 with Bluetooth version 5.2 and it doesn't work but if I use my older Huawei P30 Pro it works fine. This is an issue that has plagued the Syncrobit devices, not a Nebra issue.

See #3

Also, try connecting one hotspot at a time.

I can see in one screenshot you have several showing up at once. Just make sure only one is on at a time

Also just out of interest, what are you trying to do by connection to the app?

You can almost certainly do all of what you need to do in other ways if you are having problems

@shawaj What are the other ways? Can I ssh into it? How do I connect it to Fleet Management?

Well I don't know what you are trying to do on the app, which is why I asked.

If you tell me what you are actually trying to do then I can help further

We need to set up new internet settings for the hotspots to function properly at their hosts. Can we do this in other ways?

Over WiFi do you mean? Or Ethernet?

WiFi.. but also if we connect the hotspot to ethernet cable and power it does not seem to come online

Ethernet works fine.

For WiFi you can set them to using the following instructions:

I flashed the hotspot again with the latest firmware (07-03) using Balena Etcher. After completion the new error code I get is the one above..

I read in the threads you referred to about Bluez update etc. that there might be an update soon which could help to solve our problem. Although I have the same problem with iOS (Iphone 14 with iOS 16.3.1) and Android (Samsung S20 Plus with Android 13). Also tried before with One Plus 10. Wanted to try with Older Iphones, but cannot install Nebra app with iOS older than 13, which my older phones cannot update to. Just wondering whether the update in the other topic issue could be a solution integrated in the firmware update?
