Meeting Minutes 2019 12 03

Attendees: Stuart MacGillivary, Jeff Adams, Glen Rice

Meeting Notes:

1. Stuart updated a few scripts and created a few more to look at compression.

2. Compression appears to make file sizes larger for the updated structure.

3. Compression for the original refinements structure appears to be make the file sizes sightly smaller.

4. Compression is useful for the original single resolution structure. If we add a structure that makes compression worse we will be making the BAG format unnecessarily large.

5. While we would like to have a BAG structure that simplifies the format specification and the code to use it, we think that the refinement structures we have explored all make the BAG size unnecessarily large, especially when compression is considered.

Homework

A. We will summarize our findings and the avenues explored for review by the larger Open Navigation Surface Working Group.
