The meshes and textures are already loaded. The actual placement will be much harder to figure out. It appears to be partially random at least in Xenoblade 3.

For DE(and 2?), I believe Turk mentioned awhile back that the locations are preset, at the very least for bushes and larger vegetation.

This was posted in the discord a while ago that shows the foliage changing when leaving the menu for Xenoblade 3. I would expect the positions to be at least partially random. Storing explicit positions for trees makes sense. https://x.com/x3phia/status/1769477032411328563
