After enjoying Open IG for dozens of hours and remembering old times, I have a few proposals for other improvements (those you did over original IG 1 are excellent btw., thank you):
Space Battle: When selected a few bomb/missile-capable ships (i.e. 10 Cruisers Mk.3) and by clicking Bomb button, I'd love these 10 ships to fire bomb/missiles on the specified target. Now I need to click single ship by ship.
Ground Battle: Would love to see "orders" like in the space battle.
Trader Ships: Would really love to be able to toggle visibility of traders on and off. Currently when looking at whole "field" and with no infection anywhere, it is messy by the traders.
Planets Conquering 1: Would prefer to be able to set up higher amount of losses by a setting / defines file (a planet has 70k inhabitants, it is conquered and it looses 100 inhabitants).
Planets Conquering 2: When there is a defender fleet right at the planet and attacker attacked the planet and not fleet, the fleet is not part of the space conquering battle. I think it should.
Planets Conquering 3: There is settings which slows down the speed when "my"planet is going to be attacked. I'd welcome to choose pausing the game completely as next option.
Planets Conquering 4: I was not able to find out a logic, which takes place when AI fights against AI (in my late play, there was war between Free Traders and Free Nations).
Virus Infection: It takes a few inhabitants losses even though the description says it is "deadly".
Choosing next planet in planet view (pressing PageDown / PageUp): I was not able to find out the logic, I'd expect alphanumerical chain, but it is not.
Planet Names: It would be lovely if we can rename planets.
Key F7: It is miracle key, but I found it after more than 20 hours ingame. :-) It IS possible that it is described somewhere that it behaves differently, depending on what was your previous screen, I simply did not catch it.
Next Challenge 1: Once dargslans are defeated and you want to continue with playing, there might be a possibility by settings to appear a more aggressive race invading fleets appearing somewhere in a corner, or completely p*off dargslan fleets returning from far galaxies to home. It would be to create some new challenges in late game.
Next Challenge 2: Pirates could be stronger if they gain a planet. They cannot research anything and can build only Destroyers. They could be next challenge during late game if they are a real threat.
Fusion Plants: I love them. So I had to modify your code to allow them on each planet surface. Would be nice if it was possible to define by a settings.

CTRL+C will show the movement and attack indicators
Planets Conquering 4: I was not able to find out a logic, which takes place when AI fights against AI (in my late play, there was war between Free Traders and Free Nations).
The same logic is used for AI battles and when selecting Auto-Battle in the game options. It is currently mainly a DPS vs HP comparison, i.e., which of the participating fleet's damage per second can take down the opponent's HP faster. Improvements are planned for this to be more inline with a manual battle.

It moves top to bottom, left to right based on the starmap.
Planet Names: It would be lovely if we can rename planets.
On the starmap, select a planet and double click on the name in the bottom panel.
