Firefox 89.0.2 on a computer. This actually does not happen on Chromium, I just checked.
It happens even in a private tab without any extensions active.

I once did some CSS stuff to get a black (instead of white) background before pages load and I'm also using this: https://github.com/black7375/Firefox-UI-Fix/tree/photon-style
Maybe that could be related? But I don't see a reason why the website should use such a colour from the browser's CSS instead of just having its own background colour.

Very weird, I'll try to reproduce it from my end on Firefox (which I use daily on all my computers).

Black on black could only happen if you have light mode and maybe an extension that provides black backgrounds or something.

The website should automatically detect if your system is configured to prefer dark mode and will switch to the dark combination (dark backgound and white text).

I cannot think of any combination that could possibly give black on black, but I'll test more and get back to you ASAP

It's the opposite actually, the "Dark reader" extension fixes that issue.
My system and browser are set to dark mode.
No need for "ASAP", I just noticed it. I can simply press Alt+I to fix it with the extension.

Steps to reproduce this issue on Firefox

1. Go to about:preferences,
2. Scroll down to Language and Appearance section,
3. Select Colors... button,
   
4. Change Background color to black,
   
5. Open https://thebestmotherfucking.website,
6. Switch to "white" theme and add additional contrast.
   

• You can also use other colors, e.g. #0000ff.

I guess the right solution would be to manually specifying the default background color instead of assuming it's white.

I'm just puzzled on whether changing the default stylesheet of the web browser to use #000 as a background color is a common choice, and how it does behave on websites like Google 🤔

I have no idea, but initially I changed it because it helped reduce white flashes when loading websites. It also looks really cool on some older and (really) simple websites when they use colors defined in browser settings.

Most pages work without any problems, but in case of problems, changing background/text color using the Stylus extension is usually sufficient (Dark Reader in Dynamic mode also works).
