Built using tutorial sources:

- "Master React in 5 Days" by Eric Sarrion
The Medium.com tutorial covers reading the TODO list, TODO items, creating a new TODO, and deleting a TODO. Additional functionality was developed with the aid of the "Master React" book (updating/editing a TODO item) and other online resources.
This is a great project to get aquainted with how React works from working with components, JSX syntax, managing state (useState), various hooks (useEffect, useContext), and using the Context Provider to pass state down to child components (e.g. (TodoList.js) tasks
object passed down to the child (TodoAddItemModal.js) to access the tasks
list object and filter out the selected task id when 'edit' is clicked).
The app build is hosted on Netlify at https://react-todo-app8.netlify.app to interact with.
Netlify has a nice Continuous Deployment (CD) feature, so when your GitHub repository changes are pushed, Netlify automatically builds and deploys your site to their CDN (Content Delivery Network). Netlify's CD includes automatic builds, previews for pull requests, instant cache invalidation, and continuous delivery to production. So, Netlify can be a part of a CI/CD pipeline which is a great way to get started with CI/CD if you haven't used it before!
NOTE: The Starter plan (free) doesn't include email notifications, so pay attention to the deploys log in your Netlify account if the build fails because of various reasons (e.g. ESLint warnings). Just in case you're expecting your local version to be live on Netlify and don't see your changes take effect.
TODO - Completed Items
- Edit item (click item to edit, Enter key/blur() to save, Esc key to discard changes)
- Modal add todo item
- Filtering option (show 'All' tasks, 'Checked' and 'Unchecked')
- Modal: Add due date/time
- Adjust date/time format on add action
- Modal: close button behavior - clear out text input and date/time input
- Edit task in modal (todo text, due date)
- Conditionally adjust labels/headings based on add/edit action
- Tasks todo vs completed summary
- Store todo list in local storage
- Deploy project online (e.g Netlify)
TODO - Features To Add
- Reorder with drag and drop
- Redux state management(?)
This project was bootstrapped with Create React App.
In the project directory, you can run:
Runs the app in the development mode.
Open http://localhost:3000 to view it in your browser.
The page will reload when you make changes.
You may also see any lint errors in the console.
Launches the test runner in the interactive watch mode.
See the section about running tests for more information.
Builds the app for production to the build
folder.
It correctly bundles React in production mode and optimizes the build for the best performance.
The build is minified and the filenames include the hashes.
Your app is ready to be deployed!
See the section about deployment for more information.
Note: this is a one-way operation. Once you eject
, you can't go back!
If you aren't satisfied with the build tool and configuration choices, you can eject
at any time. This command will remove the single build dependency from your project.
Instead, it will copy all the configuration files and the transitive dependencies (webpack, Babel, ESLint, etc) right into your project so you have full control over them. All of the commands except eject
will still work, but they will point to the copied scripts so you can tweak them. At this point you're on your own.
You don't have to ever use eject
. The curated feature set is suitable for small and middle deployments, and you shouldn't feel obligated to use this feature. However we understand that this tool wouldn't be useful if you couldn't customize it when you are ready for it.
