preamble

excuses for being so late with looking at all this, all kind of obstacles were impeding me in looking at this. from what i see this is an excellent initiative which greatly reduces the work/need for parltrack. kudos! this is a great initiative and i hope this is only the first (giant) step in the right direction, and many more steps like this will follow! bravo! now my observations, notes, comments and questions:

(if this is too much questions in one issue, i can open up one issue for each of them if you prefer so.)

general

  • will there be dumps available?
  • if so, how frequently will they be updated
  • if not, why?
  • what are the starting urls where one can explore a certain topic? like the list of MEPs in the nth term, is there any listing of all calendar items?

dossiers

  • will the content from OEIL also be exposed in a similar fashion?
  • if so, what is the roadmap for this
  • if not, why?

calendar

  • will committee meetings also be part of the calendar? will they also include the agenda, and afterwards the results of roll-call votes?
  • is it possible to describe what items will be in the calendar besides plenary sessions?
  • there is items which have resource-type:PLENARY_SITTING_AGENDA, and only an id. it would be most useful to have the agendas also as granular and semantically presented as the rest in this example dataset. is that planned? what is the roadmap for this, and how would that look like?

from the example dataset

<https://data.europarl.europa.eu/eli/dl/doc/CRE-9-2022-03-07>
        a              eli:ComplexWork ;
        eli:work_type  resource-type:PLENARY_DEBATES ;
        dc:identifier  "CRE-9-2022-03-07" .

why is there no url to the document not pointing to the plenary-session-docs dataset entry for this item?

plenary-session-docs

the url? from the sample data: https://data.europarl.europa.eu/eli/dl/doc/CRE-9-2022-04-07-REV/da/xhtml produces a "whitelabel error page"

there is links to amendments, however these amendments lack any kind of semantic markup, e.g.: https://redmapl3.europarl.europa.eu/RedmapFront/media/reds_iPlRe_Amd/B-9-2022-0219-AM-001-006/B-9-2022-0219-AM-001-006_en.xhtml

is there a plan for providing semantic markup for amendmens, if so what is the roadmap for this? if not, why?

meps

why is there no link from the https://data.europarl.europa.eu/person/xxxx item to the europarl/meps/$lang/xxxx webpage?

i notice that https://data.europarl.europa.eu/person/1934 has only one citizenship listed. probably affects others too?

there is no reference to:

  • any of the various declarations (financial interests, behaviour, GAE),
  • no refernces to their reports and their roles in them,
  • their CV,
  • their assistants,
  • their meetings

what is the plan on each of them, their roadmap, and if no plan, why?

i notice that with the demise of twitter, meps have moved to the fediverse, will there be support for references to other sites beside facebook/twitter/instagram?

corporate-bodies

i don't see how you handle that certain committees had different expansions of their code, e.g. AFET was known under at least these

  • "Foreign Affairs"
  • "Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, Common Security, Defense"
    -"Foreign Affairs, Security and Defense Policy"

and there is (historic) documents that use one of these titles. A similar problem is related to groups, where the expansion of the group code varies over time.
