Scroll to active tab from a standard href

I am trying to activate and auto scroll to an active tab based on the anchor tab within a standard href link outside the tab code/navigation. Ideally I want to activate the tab based on the #anchor and auto scroll to it. At the moment the tab becomes active but not able to jump to it...
Any ideas how I can achieve this?
