What’s missing?
The ability to toot automatically, when certain conditions are met (without needing a .toot file)

or to template out toots.

for example, toot the link to a PR, every time a PR is merged (with specific conditions)

Why?

I’d like to try tooting whenever we get an open source contributors work merged, as a way of thanking them.

Eg

Thanks to [@archiewood] for contributing [PR title] 🙏.

[link to GitHub PR]

it also would prevent our repo getting cluttered with .toot files which are incidental to our software.

Alternatives you tried

None! Just getting started exploring this!

@archiewood Thanks for your input! The goal of this particular action is collaborative writing of Mastodon posts, so implicit/templated toots aren't really in scope.

Have you considered using a regular Mastodon CLI client such as toot for this?
