I should add that if a solution does require a USB audio adapter, so be it. That might be essential for debugging and monitoring. |

@ve3meo That idea is is so crazy it just might work! 1, restart jack, launch Jamulus & SonoBus without using the start scripts:
In bridge Jamulus client:
In bridge SonoBus client:
On smartphone SonoBus clients:
Possible mitigation for long delay:
FYI you can copy/paste with noVNC, but it's a 2-stop operation. You need to go through the clipboard that pulls out from the left side of your browser window. Please report back your results. |

Ran a little test today with a friend in the same town: Because we are on different ISPs, our peer-peer connection is via the Toronto Internet Exchange so we saw SonoBus reporting an overall delay of ~60ms while Jamulus on the Pi reported ~40ms. Therefore his roundtrip latency was on the order of 100 ms. He could hear it on the foldback. We counted a tempo together and he started anticipating and we were in sync after about 4 bars. So, yes, that's a lot of delay and is on the order that we would see between much more widely scattered Jamulus clients. But it may still be worthwhile to bring musicians together as if they were about 90 ft apart than just remaining solo. |

Hi Kevin,
Is it possible via Patchage or Qjackctl to connect the i/o of the Jamulus client to the o/i of the Sonobus client in order to bridge between the two domains? If that's possible, I'd like to operate the Sonobus at 16kHz sample rate because the client does not work at 48kHz on many Android devices and to lower network traffic.
I know that there will be added delay between clients of one type and the other but it's the only way I can think of to bring online a few singers in my chorus who do have Internet but not a suitable computer nor the desire to spend money.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Tom
P.S. I started this on my XP that controls JamBox but its Chrome browser stuck at v49 apparently does not like the Category selection so I finished it on the JamBox but had to copy and paste through a Gmail draft because I couldn't paste directly through VNC :-)
