This web tool is useful for applying pitches to text. </p><p id="31153241-aada-483e-83d0-d4a2db8a3938" class="">As Cantonese is a tonal language, when setting text to melody, it is important to consider the pitch contour of each syllable. Cantonese has six phonemic tones (1-6), each corresponding to a different pitch contour. Additionally, there are three "checked tones" (which are pronounced shortly) based on the pitch of the first, third, and sixth phonemic tones. These are usually written as 7-9, respectively. It is crucial to accurately convey these pitch contours in order to properly communicate in Cantonese.</p><table id="1686b2e1-ba5b-4814-851b-074768774b06" class="simple-table"><tbody><tr id="e679d50c-6cdd-4293-96e3-e3bd814a235f"><td id="<fzX" class="block-color-default" style="width:77.55571153428819px">high level</td><td id="d[NL" class="" style="width:77.55571153428819px">medium rising</td><td id="\Jne" class="" style="width:77.55571153428819px">medium level</td>
