Option to open a FB link in a new window

One of the most frustrating issues I find is clicking on an unanticipated FB link, and this add on clears the history for the tab to load the FB link.
Please implement the option to open in a new tab or an equivalent solution that just doesn't wipe all of the history from the current tab.

Exactly this please. Open all FB links in new tab if not already on FB. Happens all the time. Researching a subject, clicking through pages, then when one is Facebook all your tab history, right back to your original search is gone.

+1, this is really irritating and unintuitive. I do have a workaround, though. This extension doesn't "wipe all the history from the current tab." In fact, it closes the current tab and opens a new tab with the fb/ig page. So your history is preserved (temporarily) by reopening the closed tab, either from Menu→History→Recently Closed Tabs or from an extension such as Close Tab History Button

+1, yes PLEASE add the option to open Meta site links in a new tab WHILE not closing the tab where the link was clicked. In my opinion, this should be the default behavior.
