If the user wants to see their own messages in a certain language, they can send those messages as that language. Also, it's kind of weird to send a message and have it show up as something else. Should immersion mode be applied to the user's own messages?

The alternative is having something different happen with your own messages than other messages. It is true that it is a bit confusing. This is basically why we're turning off immersion mode by default. In the case of a language exchange, the pros of immersion mode can outweigh the cons. Otherwise, it's seeming more confusing than it's worth. I don't have the answer for how to resolve this perfectly. Ideas? Note that making immersion mode is lower priority given we're not doing many language exchanges atm.
