Food Share: a platform dedicated to fostering community engagement through food donation and assistance. Whether you're looking to contribute by donating surplus food or seeking support through food donations.

Features and Characteristics

  • Home Page: You will find all the information you need. There is a Featured Foods section where foods are orianted according to quantity. You can also find our works here.

  • Available Foods: In this page all our food items are shown in a card design anybody can view the details of the foods and also they can request for a food through Request button.

  • Add Food: You can also add your donation or food here and people can see them in our website.

  • Manage My Foods: We have created a nice way here to see what you have added. You can Update or Delete your food items here.

  • My Food Request: In this page a person can see which food he has requested for. Also only he can see his requested foods nobody else can see what he has requested.

  • Login and Register: Securely access your account or create a new one to unlock the amazing expirence of helping people.

Getting Started

Follow these steps to get a local copy of the project and run it on your machine.

Prerequisites

Make sure you have the following installed on your machine:

Installation

  1. Clone the repository: git clone https://github.com/your-username/your-repository.git
  2. Navigate to the project directory: cd your-repository

Backend Setup

  1. Navigate to the backend directory: cd backend
  2. Install backend dependencies: npm install
  3. Create a .env file in the backend directory and add your environment variables: PORT=5000 MONGO_URI=your-mongodb-uri
  4. Start the backend server: npm start

Frontend Setup

  1. Navigate to the frontend directory: cd frontend
  2. Install frontend dependencies: npm install
  3. Create a .env file in the frontend directory and add your environment variables: REACT_APP_API_URL=http://localhost:5000
  4. Start the frontend development server: npm start
