Just wondering how folks are connecting their switches - whether they have a separate power supply & TCD leads or whether it is better to run a single cable for power and TCD. If using a single cable, what type and are you sharing the TCD's power supply? Cheers! |

I use one cable and the power supply (12V) is shared. Since there are no clocked signals (that might be subject to cross talk), just any cable with enough wires. My TFC switch has a DIN socket on its back; these are difficult to solder (especially the plugs), but have enough pins.

BTW, there is a new PCB coming up shortly that is attached to the screws of the Dayton switch. |

Amazing thank you - that's really helpful. I've had a couple of the original PCB's printed but will wait for the new one and get a replacement. I saw it had a spot for a rotary encoder. I've started designing my VSR enclosure now... you're keeping me busy! :) Thanks for the detail on the cable as well. Cheers mate |

Great thank you!! I was a bit confused with '12V-GND and 5V-GND can be one and the same wire if the TCD and the TFC share the power supply', Sorry! |

OK, confusion is not good when it comes to power supply ;) The eight signals are
One twisted pair should be SDA+GND, another SCL+GND, the others don't matter. |

Deal - pop by Wales anytime ;) I'm doing the VSR enclosure as a 3d Print. I also had a go at a mount for the battery terminal switch (as I haven't got a welder) which works really well. |

Hi! I've connected it all up and working great, except the the lights on the keypad are always lit (when the TFC is off and showing red). The display on the TCD turns off and on as expected. The board is a 1.2 and connections looks good. Any ideas? Cheers! |

The 1.2 version of the TCD control board can't disable the lights. This feature was added in 1.3. But before you rush out and buy a new one, wait a few weeks, there is another new version coming out that has two audio outputs, one for the speaker (like the one you have), one line out for a stereo system. The time travel sounds will be played on the stereo (if connected), only the sounds originally emitted by the TCD on the speaker. Also, the keypad case is under revision, it will be like the one in the movie. |
