I use GIMP in Norwegian, but some times when I read an English-language tutorial, it'll reference some strange menu item that I've no idea what/where is nor what is called in Norwegian. Can I use tito to search both languages?

Yes you can. I have tried using tito in Kannada and Tamil which are some Indic languages. It works fine.

The support for the language in Tito is as good as the i18n support for that language in GIMP. The actions themselves are language independent so they will activate properly.

It'll be great if you can try it and let me know if it works like you expect.

Upon re-reading what you said, it sounds like you want to type in english, but get Norwegian results. That is possible yet. You have to type in norwegian to get norwegian results.

I changed my locale and tried typing in norwegian:

Well, I want to have my GIMP interface be in Norwegian but still get hits whether I type "unsharp" or "uskarp". Whether the language of the result list is Norwegian or English is less important to me.

I've heard of people switching GIMP language simply so they can follow tutorials better, which is rather sad (I tend to keep a copy of the po file around, not much better solution). It seems like something tito could solve.

That is unfortunate. But I think it is quite possible to extend tito to allow this as well. I had thought of a "thesaurus" feature that basically takes words like 'scale', 'resize', 'bigger' and maps them to actions which mean the same. You're more than welcome to help extend tito with this functionality :)

Thesaurus sounds like a good idea too. I doubt I'll have time to work on this myself, maybe if it starts really annoying me again :)
