creature scales/thermophile samples drop even though config settings don't require them

River prowlers and lava lizards still drop their scales when knifed when the personal crush depth difficulty setting is set to "Hard" or "Normal". Similarly, lava larvae still drop thermophile samples when knifed when the "special air tanks" setting is disabled.

This is annoying, as knifing these creatures in self-defense will fill up your inventory with useless junk items.
