I tried it (on Linux Manjaro/Arch from sources), it finds all my config files including those in subdir (I have a Git repo cloned to share Espanso config with team). But when I try to click on one of these files, it fails with Could not open file.: Os { code: 2, kind: NotFound, message: "No such file or directory" }, probably because the path is not well formated (espanso dir + file name, forgetting subdir ?).
I will try to check code, I put it here just for the record or if someone else fix it before I check.
