I'm trying to use VPP as a pppoe client, to connect my ADSL , and get to your "Making a vBNG from open source. Part 1".
but got some problems in your article.

  1. after I run ./pppcpd, interface tap1 in vpp and interface pppoe-cp/sub in host(debian) disappeared, and a new interface tap0 turn out in host. So "pppd call dsl-provider" got a unrecognized option 'sub' error.
  2. I got 2 physic interfaces in VPP,named 'wan' and 'lan',but in your article you didn't do any thing to the physic interface, how can it possible to connect ADSL via pppoe client.
  3. after build the pppcpd program,it needs a config.yaml to start.I used -g to create the demo config.yaml, but when I open it,found it is hard to config it.Can you explain what do the parameters mean?

thank you for your reply.
I've made a big mistake.
I finnlly succed in dialing pppoe by creating tap in vpp and a host-interface as pppoe client interface, got the idea in your blog.
but after this,I found I can ping google.com in host ,while vpp ping turn out a "no egrss interface" fault.
now I'm reading your "make bgp work again(in vpp)".
hope can use vpp as a home gateway.

your work is great helpful for me.
thank you again.

@MichaelScde did you succeed to make it work? I would be also interested in a pppoe client in order to use vpp as a home gateway
