this is excel lib for php extension. I'd tested it for Mac OS, XAMPP 1.8.3 (php 5.5.3), Ubuntu Linux 12.04,13.04 which is php 5.3.10,5.4.6.

To build the software, you need to:

1. Download php source code which match your xampp, php binary version
2. extrac php source code to any folder
3. extract excel.zip to <phpsource>/ext/excel
4. If u use mac or linux, copy config-mac.m4 or config-linux.m4 to config.m4
5. run
phpize
./configure --with-php-config=<full path to php-config>
//this step for mac only, edit Makefile, go to line 31 change ‘CXX=‘  to ‘CXX=cc’
make
sudo make install
6. edit php.ini, add in "extension=excel.so"  (or excel.dll if using windows)
7. restart apache with command:
 <full path to apachectl> stop
 <full path to apachectl> strt
8. to test it, try run "/path-to-php/php t.php (it will generate excel file at /tmp folder,if you use windows can change output folder )
