Unidata's GitHub Community Health Files

This repository holds default community health files for UCAR/UCP/Unidata. More information on GitHub Community Health Files can be found here.

It's all relatively straight forward, except for the Code of Conduct, but only because we maintain two versions of it -- one representing the generic UCAR Code of Conduct for Contributors, and one filled out with Unidata's information. There are very few differences between the two.

One way to check the current difference between the two versions maintained here is to visit https://www.copyscape.com/compare.php and, for the Item URLs, use:

  1. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Unidata/.github/master/UCAR_CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md
  2. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Unidata/.github/master/CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md

Code of Conduct for Contributors

This is a place to log when the UCAR Code of Conduct for Contributors has been checked for updates. Probably should have done this from the beginning, but hey, here we go. Note that we maintain a vanilla UCAR version, as well as a Unidata version that we use as the default for all Unidata repositories.

As of 2020-01-21, there is no difference between what we have in this repository and what is on the UCAR site. If we look at the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine diff between 2020-01-21 and 2019-09-06, we see one text change, which was the use of the DOI as the text for the hyperlink instead of the "Contributor Code of Conduct" (the actual link didn't change). This change was pulled in via https://github.com/Unidata/.github/pull/5. Now when we use the Wayback Machine to check for differences in the official UCAR version, we know 2020-01-21 is a good place to start.

Steps to check the diff:

  1. Obtain new snapshot
    1. Visit https://web.archive.org/
    2. Look for "Save Page Now!" text box and enter https://www.ucar.edu/who-we-are/ethics-integrity/codes-conduct/contributors
    3. Click "SAVE PAGE"
  2. Once the page is saved, check out the diff:
    1. Visit https://web.archive.org/web/changes/https://www.ucar.edu/who-we-are/ethics-integrity/codes-conduct/contributors
    2. Select the last known "good" date from the calendar widget
    3. Select the snapshot you just made
    4. Click "Compare"
  3. If there are differences in the actual text of the Code of Conduct, update the files here and make a PR
  4. Update this log and move along :-)
