AI is capable of supporting and even replacing the work of doctors and medical professionals. This is because AI is able to learn from patient records, genomic information, and real-time patient data to identify patterns and characteristics that cannot be detected by humans. For Example AI can help diagnose diseases accurately and promptly. |

Can you focus the argument more on the relationship of using this technology and (individuals') autonomy need experiences?

The research field is characterized by many reviews that explain the many application areas in which digital healthcare has applications. The studies often exemplify the possibilities of new technologies to facilitate work within medicine and other areas. My selected study appropriately examines the benefits of AI use, which is a very current topic, as AI is getting a lot of attention in the media, especially at the moment. As with most other texts, the opportunities and risks in particular are weighed against each other, and the conclusion is that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, but caution is advised. |

Can you point out two or three of the most important chances and most important risks of this application for individuals' autonomy need experiences?

Following Aspects are based on the main Paper and the following Paper:
Pesapane, F., Volonté, C., Codari, M., & Sardanelli, F. (2018). Artificial intelligence as a medical device in radiology: ethical and regulatory issues in Europe and the United States. Insights into imaging, 9, 745-753.
Experts see dangers from AI use in particular in the fact that it is developing exponentially and is already superior to us in many aspects. The inner workings of AIs can hardly be understood and comprehended, so that they cannot be reliably controlled. Some say you can just pull the plug in an emergency, but that doesn't work because you shouldn't think of an AI as a physical machine where you just cut the power. They are programs that can be copied and sent out. One example of current AI regulation is the EU's AI Act. This is supposed to include, among other things, bans on certain AI applications, and other obligations such as maintaining technical documentation, supervisory guidance by human personnel,.... . But the law will take at least two more years, according to the Commission itself.
Does the use of AI pose a threat to human jobs in this case? AI will not replace jobs in the near future, it will probably just take work away from doctors and make everything more efficient. In terms of diagnoses and working with data, AI can take a lot off the doctor's plate, but ultimately the patient has to be treated, which still has to be done by the doctor. In your entry you mentioned many important aspects and listed them in a good way. The only thing I would improve is to point out the limitations of AI, as AI shines especially in data-related work but is not so useful in practical applications. |
